Balloon Machine presents Broken Chanter [Cancelled] w/ Randolph's Leap + Moonsoup

Please note this is an 18+ event

David MacGregor (Broken Chanter), Adam Ross (Randolph’s Leap) and Niamh Baker (Moonsoup) will be performing their own, and each other’s songs together and separately at this wonderful, intimate showcase of the extraordinary talents that Scotland continues to yield.

Broken Chanter is the opus of David MacGregor, the principal songwriter of Scottish alt-pop darlings Kid Canaveral. McGregor’s first album as Broken Chanter painted an emotional and expansive soundscape with a distinct sense of place and showcased MacGregor’s ear for melody and dexterity at tugging heartstrings. In their four star review, The Skinny commented that it “bares the mark of maturity that comes with age whilst possessing the same vitality as his earlier work with Kid Canaveral”.

Randolph’s Leap are a Glasgow-based musical project ranging from a solo act to an eight-piece band. Nairn-born Adam Ross and friends have been making pop music for unpopular people since 2010. They have repeatedly recorded live sessions for BBC 6 Music, whilst their albums released on Lost Map Records and Olive Grove Records have drawn praise from The Metro, The Skinny, The List and The Quietus. They have performed across the UK, including a recent solo tour with James Yorkston (Domino Records).

Self-described as ‘music your pets might like’, Moonsoup blessed the world with their second EP ‘Archipelago, Vol 4’ late last year. It’s a compelling blend of the adventure of Cate Le Bon and the witty lyricism of Frankie Cosmos – see final track ‘I Don’t Like Rocket Unless It’s In Small Portions’. Featuring in Vic Galloway’s (BBC Radio Scotland) 25 for 2020, Moonsoup are set for a big year.
