Immediately after the death of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, Professor Lucas is tasked (by the British Secret Service) with creating three clones (inventively called Bruce Lee 1, Bruce Lee 2, and Bruce Lee 3) using brain tissue from the late master. Once complete, the mission of the clones is to go undercover and fight crime and corruption in Southeast Asia.

Supported by Special Branch Investigator Chuck (who is not a clone but also resembles Bruce Lee), they set off to kill the brilliant butt evil Dr Ngai, who is creating an army of bronze “automatons” (men who have been turned into indestructible metal men) to take over the world.

Disgruntled at his unsatisfactory reward for creating the clones, Professor Lucas sets out to turn the clones against each other and fight to the death. Only the professor’s female (love interest) assistants can stop the violence.

Capitalising on the death of Bruce Lee (who died in 1973), The Clones of Bruce Lee gathers several Lee imitators, and performers who actually worked with Lee, together in a kinetic broth of kung-fu action, sci-fi, and exploitation. The result is mind-boggling!

Kung Fu Cinema magazine called it “the Plan 9 from Outer Space of Hong Kong cinema”.
