CHLOE FOY With guests PEAKES

Please note this is an 18+ event

Chloe Foy writes a brand of melodic, homegrown music that has been likened to such artists as Laura Marling and Sharon Van Etten. Her songs are imbued with lyrical and textural inflections evocative of much of the music she loves – taking inspiration from classical music as much as wider transatlantic trends in folk and indie music, Chloe’s songs comprise of carefully constructed arrangements that delicately compliment her cryptic lyrics.

In 2017 she was chosen to collaborate on a residency with Mercury Prize-nominated artist Beth Orton and this year has seen her gain the backing of some highly influential industry figures after a string of dates at SxSW festival. Her performance at The Driskill garnered support from Bob Boilen and NPR’s late night dispatches. Chloe has received substantial support from Steve Lamacq on his BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music shows, and singles In The Middle Of The Night, Flaws and Asylum have featured on a wealth of Spotify official playlists including Lost In The Woods and The Most Beautiful Songs In The World, generating over 3 million plays.

She has spent the summer touring in support of Jesca Hoop, also providing backing vocals in Jesca’s band and has her first headline tour in the Autumn.

For this performance, Chloe will be unveiling special arrangements of her songs, past and present, for string ensemble, before being joined by full band for a glimpse of the shape and sound of things to come.

‘Her huge talent lies in creating delicate yet intense atmospheres that swallow us in bliss, while her voice remains our steady link to reality’ – The405

‘Beautiful and relatable’ – The Line of Best Fit

Special guests are Peakes. Precocious deep-groove pop trio Peakes make effortlessly cool music for such a tender age. Female singer Molly Puckering’s accomplished vocal brings the songs to the foreground over magical surreal landscapes from musical scientist Maxwell Shirley. Hailing from Leeds, Peakes have built a community from the bands that centred around their first headline show and single launch at the Brudenell Social Club earlier this year. The next single from their debut EP, out 27 October, Waves is a synth heavy sultry track with rushes of electronic texture and heavy drums. The track also sees the band breaking into more experimental territory with a warped and aggressive middle-eight section.
