Manchester’s Kino will be back on Thursday 5th May at Gullivers on Oldham Street. This month we’ll have our first shorts night since the February Festival and we’re trying up one of out festival venues as a regular event venue. WE are looking for short films now, if you have something you would like to screen to appreciative short film going audience, get it to us now. And note, If you get into this event, it’s likely that you may receive two screenings of your short as we are hoping to recreate the event and show some of the films at our second event later in May at Salford Uni at Media City.
The audience will have the chance to vote for their favourite films of the night in three categories: Best Short, Best Script and Best Actor. The Awards will be announced at the end of the night and framed certificates given (digital laurels will be given via email to add to your site and social media sites). Please note that votes cannot be cast until all the films have been screened which should be at 10am.

Whether you are from MANCHESTER AND NORTH WEST FILMMAKERS or further afield, submissions are open now and we would love to see what new films you have for us. Entrants must be able to attend the event to represent your film and to participate in Q&A following the screening. And off course its a great event to do some networking with like minded folks.

Films can be any genre as long as they are completed in the last 12 months and no longer than 20 mins (unless agreed in advance). Fiction, drama, animation, experimental, documentary, artist film and video and music videos are eligible. We can only accept films longer than 20 mins in exceptional circumstances and if we have room in the programme nearer the date, you must contact us at least 2 weeks in advance of the screening.
Our nights feature short Q&A’s with the filmmakers after each film when the filmmaker is available. For those submitting a film from outside the region who cannot make the trip to the event we will often propose a Skype Q&A.

Doors open at 7.00pm for 7.30pm START
The bar is open till late so time for networking with a fine range of beers in the downstairs bar.
