We had such a brilliant time at every one of our Fringe preview shows that, even though that Fringe season is over, we couldn’t resist throwing in one more! Join us at Gullivers in the Northern Quarter of Manchester on Monday 23rd October for full-length shows from two of the most monumentally talented performers we have the pleasure of knowing.
Maxine Wade
The Nearlywed – This is the story of how Maxine was meant to get married but didn’t. Find a plus one and be prepared to laugh and cry at this dark and deeply personal debut hour. Til Wed Do Us Part.
Yorkshire Comedy Awards Best Breakthrough Act Nominee 2023.
A rising star of the northern comedy scene, Maxine Wade combines political satire with anecdotes of her time nursing in the NHS. Her hilarious quick fire gags and puns about real life stories you wouldn’t believe happened to her will have you laughing all night. Saucy, sexy, and with a hint of sarcasm, Maxine has a reputation for bringing the house down’.
“Very very funny” – Fem de la Fem Comedy
“Sharp wit” – Cottingham Comedy Club
“Charming onstage presence” – Blizzard Comedy
and Chris Cantrill
Chris Cantrill is an award-winning comedian from Yorkshire who since birth has been cursed with visions of the future that he really hopes don’t turn out to be true.
As one half of cult double act The Delightful Sausage, Chris has been twice-nominated for the Edinburgh Fringe Best Show Award. That’s a big deal but if you ask him about it he’ll probably just shrug and light another ciggy. He’s just cool like that I guess.
You’ll have seen his cheeky full face on shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (C4) and the BAFTA-winning Alma’s Not Normal (BBC 2).
When he’s not doing comedy he edits his Village Magazine which is a job he took on over lockdown but now it looks like he’ll be doing it until he dies haha.
★★★★★ “Absolutely inspired” – Ed Fest Magazine
★★★★ “One of the best voices for comedy on the circuit” – Chortle
★★★★ “A devotion to finding the funny” – The Times
Tickets of this show are free to book, with a pay-what-you-want option on the door via either cash or card. All donations will be split among the performers.
