TERRY & GERRY With guests

Please note this is an 18+ event

Terry and Gerry – the bastard offspring of Lonnie Donegan and Buddy Holly, with a diploma from the Billy Bragg school of social politics.”

BBC disc jockey and avid fan John Peel promoted this band when by chance he picked out their demonstration tape because his wife’s best friends were also known as Terry and Gerry. Formed in 1984 by Terry Lilley and Gerry Colvin in the mid-eighties the four piece band (with Su Richardson on washboard and Mick Howson on guitar) released six singles and one album “From Lubbock to Clintwood East”. The band toured extensively in the UK, Europe and America gathering fans from Joe Strummer of The Clash to Shane MacGowan from The Pogues.

The band recorded four critically acclaimed sessions for the John Peel show. Terry and Gerry regularly appeared on radio and TV, including sessions for ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’ and ‘The Tube’, they wrote numerous theme tunes for Central TV and were the subject of a 30 minute documentary by the legendary film maker Norman Hull, which aired on British Television in July 1986.

Almost 30 years later, in 2014, the band reformed to take part in a nationwide tour that celebrated the life of John Peel. A new EP was released, “Dear John”. Since then they have supported the mighty Status Quo, played at Glastonbury several times and taken their skiffle/rockabilly sound around the country. Terry and Gerry continue to thrill audiences with their unique sound, infectious punk-skiffle and biting lyrics, performed on double bass, two battered guitars and a washboard!
