The C33s are garage-punk band with an infusion of surf and psychedelia from Manchester/Macclesfield consisting of Judy Jones (drums, vocals), Cav Green (guitar, vocals) and Ste Phillips (bass).
Their sound is an East coast meets West coast affair, ramped up Ramones pop fused with full on Dick Dale twang. If Pulp Fiction were set in a satellite town The C33s just wrote the soundtrack.
Back in 2018 The C33s unleashed their first EP ’48 Hours at Neon Palms’, played their debut gig at Jimmy’s Mcr and made a big impact on the MCR music scene resulting in a publishing deal with Wipeout Music.
Their 2019 release ‘Manic Depression’ earned amazing reactions and gleaned national radio play including BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), BBC Radio 6 (Chris Hawkins), XS Manchester (Mike Joyce) and Amazing Radio (Jim Gellatly). Championed by BBC Introducing Manchester (Michelle Hussey & Natalie Eve Williams), their follow up releases in 2019 ‘Big Winner’ & ‘Resurrection Men’ received airplay from BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, John Kennedy at Radio X and Shell Zenner at Amazing Radio.
Soon after releasing fourth single ‘Harpurhey Hostility’ in June 2020, The C33s were back in the studio. During a break between national lockdowns in July, they managed to record a new EP and has since released the title track ‘Benzodiac’ with the rest of the EP being released on 10″ vinyl this winter.
“A dead exciting new band from Manchester. Garagey, gritty & will leave a scar on your mind. The future is bright. The future is The C33s.” Chris Hawkins, BBC 6 MUSIC
“If Quentin Tarantino invented a band to write tunes for his future films they would be called The C33s. One of the best debuts this year for me.” (Louder Than War).
“The C33s refresh the parts other bands cannot reach! Cav, Judy and Ste are definitely one of the most exciting and talented garage punk combos on the planet.” (Northern Jon)
