Rain Soaked Productions present TV Smith [SOLD OUT] w/ The Harveys

Following a sold out gig at The Castle in January 2024 Punk Pioneer TV Smith returns to Manchester to play Gullivers, with The Harveys also returning to provide support.

As lead singer, songwriter and frontman of the legendary Adverts TV Smith was at the heart of the first wave of British Punk Rock along with other bands such as The Clash, The Damned, and The Sex Pistols. The Adverts achieved chart success with classic singles Gary Gilmores Eyes and No Time To Be 21, as well as producing 2 of the greatest Punk albums of the time (Crossing The Red Sea with The Adverts and Cast Of Thousands); performing live regularly at legendary venues such as the Roxy and touring with Iggy Pop before splitting in 1979. TV went on to further success with TV Smith’s Explorers, another hit single, Tomahawk Cruise and another classic album “The Last Words Of The great Explorer” before embarking on a solo career which continues to this day. During the last 2 years TV Smith has performed on tours with Stiff Little Little Fingers; The Damned and Ruts DC; played solo tours in the UK; Europe; and the USA; and has established himself as a favourite at the annual Rebellion festival whether performing solo or with his band The Bored Teenagers. With a new album “Handwriting” (Recorded in collaboration with renowned folk producer and multi-instrumentalist Gerry Diver, the pair promise a record that creates a thrilling totally new musical landscape using no conventional rock instruments) TV heads to Manchester as part of a full UK tour.

The Harveys also return to start the evening off. So far in 2024 the band have released 2 storming singles “Danny and Me” and “Sometimes the World” on Salford label Half Edge Records.  In a previous life the Manchester band went by the name of Harveys Rabbit and achieved some notoriety with their single “Is This what You Call Change?” as well other single and album releases on indie label Rotator; a John Peel session, and live performances with bands such as The Fall. Since re-emerging as The Harveys their reputation has been growing again with releases on German Shepherd and Half Edge labels, and storming gigs with the likes of The Monochrome Set, The Doctors of Madness, The Distractions and TV Smith.
