Unsociable Hours: A film club hosted by Manchester Momentum

Please note this is an 18+ event

Unsociable Hours is a monthly film club hosted by Manchester Momentum. Our first screening will be A Taste of Honey, written by Salford playwright Shelagh Delaney, directed by Tony Richardson. Written when only 19 years old, Delaney exemplifies the lives of working-class women in Northern England, confronting themes of race, motherhood and sexuality, and is considered a unique and defiant text for its time. Delaney was referred to as the first working-class female playwright, and A Taste of Honey’s impact went far beyond the theatre, for instance, much dialogue heavily used by Morrissey in his lyrics.

Dissatisfied with political events forever taking place in the evening, Manchester Momentum will be hosting this monthly film club aimed at members and supporters who may work unsociable, irregular hours and shift work. We will be screening a wide variety of films from British social realism to Russian avant-garde, to contemporary political documentaries. All welcome.
