Multi award-winning comic poet helps you fail… slightly less!
Are you aware of the devastation possible by just one negative thought..?
Are the solutions to your problems waiting in the pages of a self-help book or a child’s home-made ‘choose-your-own-adventure’?
Do you know what will help you more – the wise words of Buddha or the fetish-uniform of super-hero He-Man?
Winner of Best Spoken Word Artist in 2017 Saboteur Awards and Poet in Residence at 2017 Glastonbury Festival, Dominic Berry’s I Can Make You Fail Slightly Less, directed by Kevin Dyer (Winner Best Play for The Hobbit, UK Theatre Awards), prepares to make its Edinburgh Fringe Premiere in August 2019, alongside a 2019 / 2020 national UK tour.
I Can Make You Fail Slightly Less has been researched and written over a 12-month period through funding from Arts Council England, and is Berry’s eighth successful Grants for the Arts project. It follows a world-wide tour of his previous show Playing Mortal Kombat Guarantees You Inner Calm and the highly successful publication of his 4th poetry book ‘No Tigers’. During the time creating I Can Make You Fail Slightly Less, Berry has been sharing and previewing material at secret venues across the UK – He has already changed the lives of hundreds of people by making them all fail slightly less!
“I love the seriousness and the humour.” Benjamin Zephaniah, Poet
“An exceptional force in the poetry and spoken word scene.” John McGrath, Artistic Director, National Theatre Wales and Manchester International Festival
Through comedy, poetry, the wisdom of the greatest (and most surprising of) philosophers and self-help gurus – as well as an audience-involved, new-every-show, choose-your-own-adventure – Dominic Berry laughs and rhymes and escorts the audience to a new look at the world. The show is a unique, sharp look at the world we live in through his own particular pink-tinted glasses. Exploring themes of contemporary expectation and ideals of success could be a heavy ride; but razor-sharp wit and Berry’s captivating performance energy make for an engaging and hugely enjoyable piece.
“Exuberant, lively, expressive and totally nuts, Dominic owns the stage.” Writers Connect
Blending skilfully-crafted, accessible spoken word poetry with emotive, insightful monologue, this is a feel good show which will help us all fail a little bit less.
